Looks like we are both sitting this month out ... i am working late tonight too Sad

To answer your questions - nope it is FREE! You only need to bring things if there is a 'topic of discussion' that props are needed for ... so tonight people were invited to bring samples of the ads they use to attact clients and other 'marketing' strategies to get tips and ideas on how to make sure we are sending a professional message to catch attention of the right clients.

Next month will likely be a 'social night' as they rotate between the two concepts ... so dinner, bowling, dessert and coffee, potluck BBQ's and such Smile

How is attendance looking for tonights meeting?

I am really hoping to attend ... however I have one wee one whose parents had a family emergency come up for today and they have to both go out of town to TO .... I agreed I would stay late tonight if they needed.

Doddles ... I know that Hamilton has been a leader in the 'Raising the Bar Quality Care initiative' for childcare in Ontario ... the Affiliated Services for Children is the name of the organization that came together to spear head this campaign in Hamilton and it has spread to other areas as well ... at one of the workshops I attened I heard they were looking at expanding into the area of 'home childcare' to offer support and networking and raising the bar venues ... you might be able to contact them to find out if they have done this or where to go for support in your area ... here is the link from Hamilton.

http://www.ascy.ca/raising_intro.htm

ETA ...I poked around the site and there is a link up in the right hand corner for Home Childcare networking and support ... although it is geared towards 'licensed' providers I am sure that if there goal is to support home childcare providers they will welcome BOTH ... just that with receiving 'government funding' they have to promote the government licensed concept first.

Hi DOODLES

This group C2C - Caregiver to Caregiver was started from our Friday morning Caregiver Playgroup at the Ontartio Early Year north centre-Childreach about 4 years ago. At the time there was only one other caregiver support group in London (sorry the name escapes me at the moment, Joyce's group, I'm sure someone can fill in the blank for me) and it was a more structured format, we are a 'very informal' group. Childreach donates the room and we just go with the flow, each year someone volunteers to be the contact, we have about 25 on our email contact list and we usually get about 6-12 out to each gathering. If you have the OEYC in Hamilton perhaps you could mention the idea to them.
I wish there had been something like this years ago when I was building my HCC it would have been nice to have co-workers and friends in the business. Although I am currently employed as a private childcare provider I enjoy staying in touch with my HCC co-workers and feel I have much to contribrute still to the HCC providers and who knows when the grandchildren start coming
(many years from now) maybe I will return to home childcare.

Is there something like this in the Hamilton area? Do you organize this independently?

Hello ladies,

C2C- Caregiver To Caregiver- is an 'informal' group of caregivers that get together once a month.
We chat, share, vent, support and encourage each other.
We try to pick topics for discussion that are of interest to everyone.
We alternate get togethers and outings.
We meet at Childreach-the OEYC north-centre location, they graciously donate the room for our use when it is available. We usually meet in the later half of the month on a Tuesday or Thursday.
Our outings, we try to rotate around the city to accomodate everyone.

Last week we met at Cafe Demetre on Richmond. It was very nice! if you every want a heavenly slice of cheese cake drizzled in chocolate and strawberry sauce, sprinkled with sugar may I recommend Cafe Demetre.

Thanks to all who attended and another BIG THANK YOU from our fellow caregiver Donna who we presented with a gift instead of a gift card. She LOVES her new RED coat and black hat, scarf and gloves (Donna raised six children put them all through University and never bought herself a new coat)She said something about pransing into chemo on Thursday looking like a HOT MAMMA, I do believe she is coming out of her reserved shell.
